Dr. Mak was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada when she was a young child. Growing up she was fascinated with animals of all shapes and sizes and found herself caring for stray cats and wild birds.
She started volunteering at small animal clinics in Toronto during her teen years and fell in love with the profession. At her vet school admission interview at the Ontario Veterinary College she told the interviewers the reason why she wanted to be a vet is because she knows there is so much she can do to help the animals. She finds working at veterinary clinics to be very rewarding as she gets to spend time with pets and form relationships with the owners.
After working as an associate with Dr. Hill for 4 years she purchased the Bloormill Veterinary Hospital in 2016. In her spare time, Dr. Mak enjoys playing volleyball, making wood furniture and throwing pottery. She also loves outdoor activities like camping, canoeing and hiking. Her pets include a Boston Terrier named TaterTot and a cat named Maya.

Dr. Mariia is originally from Ukraine. Growing up in a family of animal lovers, she developed a strong passion for rescuing stray cats and dogs. However, finding proper veterinary care for these animals in the rural area where her family lived was a challenge. It was this difficulty that motivated her to pursue a career as a veterinarian, enabling Dr. Mariia to provide essential veterinary care to animals in need herself. This passion eventually led to Dr. Mariia’s family starting a small cat shelter in Ukraine, currently run by her mom.
After graduating from vet school in Ukraine in 2014 Dr. Mariia decided to seek additional education in the field of animal behaviour and welfare, which led her to obtaining a Master’s degree in Animal Behaviour in Poland in 2016, and eventually moving to Canada and completing a PhD program in Animal Welfare at the University of Saskatchewan in 2021.
In her free time, Dr. Mariia loves going to the gym, travelling, crafting, baking cakes and having Skype calls with her Ukrainian shelter kitties!"

Dr. Arin was born and raised in Pickering, Ontario. She knew by fourth grade that she wanted to be a veterinarian as it perfectly combined her love of animals, sciences and her desire to help people. She developed a strong love of cats at a young age while working at a local cat shelter. Her experiences there developed her love and affection for misfits and senior cats, which is why she prefers to adopt geriatric cats (especially black ones) and give them old people names. The older and less adoptable they are due to medical conditions - the better!
She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016 and worked for nearly 8 years in Trenton, Ontario before moving back to the GTA to join the Bloormill Veterinary Hospital team. She has a passion for feline medicine, senior pet medicine, preventative medicine, surgery, dentistry and client education.
In her free time, Dr. Arin enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and embroidery. She's also a big sports fan and will cheer (hopelessly) cheer on all Toronto teams and the Baltimore Ravens NFL team. She is keen on maintaining her physical and mental well being via regular exercise and outdoor activities. Although skilled at caring for furry creatures, she lacks a green thumb, except when it comes to orchids. Her "senior cat retirement home" currently cares for Sibyl, a diabetic cat who was 13 when she adopted her in May 2023.
